Overcrowding Isn't Just for Schools

Remember when I planted my little square garden here?  Well, I went crazy.  Paid no attention to the directions on spacing.  Just threw all those plants in there together...tomatoes, squash, onions, strawberries, bell peppers, cucumbers, and tons of herbs.  It looked great.

And then they grew.  And grew.  And grew.

 Now my garden reminds me of my house.  We bought it seven years ago with only a six month old.  It was huge.  And the yard was huge.  Now...well not so much.  There's a boy or two in every room.  A piece of plastic covering most of the backyard.  Like my plants, they grew.  And grew.  And grew.

Don't even get me started on what it is going to feel like in oh about ten years.  Our enormous living room probably will feel claustrophobic.

At least then I'll have my garden to feed them.

 

And Just Like That...

Sweet William is 4!!

We had a great birthday party at the house Tuesday night.  He chose fish and couscous with peas for his birthday meal.  While Chris cooked the fish, Dee did homework!  A nice break for Mom...

The boys were all riding bikes in the driveway while we were getting dinner ready.  William runs in and asks whose bike was in the locked portion of the garage.  That would be your birthday present, friend!

After all that, bedtime meltdowns!  On Wednesday, we had his friends over for ice cream sundaes.  Again, easiest birthday party ever!!

Sweet William (aka 'Curlsee' or 'Willme' as your younger brother calls you!)...you are such a treasure.  Your sweet personality makes me smile.  If I had to use one word to describe you right now, it would definitely be 'talkative'!  Happy Birthday, friend.

A Trip to the Farm

Another field trip for William.  This time to Brantley Farms.  Good times with his friends...

Of course, John tagged along.  I had to pull this outfit out of the attic for the trip!

Been on this trip three years in a row (2011, 2012) and probably have three more to go!!

In So Many Ways...

He is like his father.

He is dependable, a hard worker with an incredible amount of self control.  He is mild mannered, even-tempered.  He is loving and tends to show his love by doing things to help others.  He is neat...borderline OCD.  His clothes are always put away...toys put back in their place.  His humor is quick and dry.  He is a great eater...adventurous and healthy.  He is intelligent and truly seems to learn to love.  He loves all things sports...watching them and playing them.  He is happy when he is outdoors.

They even look alike.  Sometimes I feel just a little left out.

But then there's this.  Philip spends 95% of his time indoors reading a book.  Finally, I found something I can claim!

His love for reading never ceases to amaze Chris and me.  From the time he read his first chapter book last summer, he has always had a book in hand.  He takes them everywhere he goes.  On rainy days, I jealously look at him lying in bed with a good book.  I have to help entertain his brothers, but I long to curl up in bed with him and read my favorite book.

So it gave me much happiness to give him my old Nook this past weekend.  He read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on it in three days.

Could not love this child any more.

Summer...is that you??

I got up to run the other morning and it was 69 degrees at 5:00 am.  Really?  With the humidity it feels like August down here.  Oh well, we are making the most of it.

I am happy to see the sandals, Crocs, short jon-jons, etc. back in the wardrobe.  And I am happy that we can spend so much of our afternoon outside.

Finally...a Springbreak Adventure

With Daddy back in town, we thought Saturday was a perfect day for a Springbreak adventure.  After Saturday morning breakfast, we headed south to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.  Good times...

Our plan was to hop in the ferry and head across the bay to Fort Morgan, but we just missed it!  So we headed to the Causeway for lunch.

It was great to have Daddy back.  Such a relaxing day!
